Parallel and Series Combination of Capacitor Working Model for Class 12
INTRODUCTION
Capacitors are one of the most important components in electronics. They store electrical energy and release it when required. Understanding how capacitors behave when connected in series and parallel combinations is essential for students learning about circuits.
Our Series and Parallel Combination of Capacitor Working Model is designed to demonstrate this concept in a simple and interactive way. It clearly shows how capacitors store and release energy differently in both arrangements, making it perfect for physics projects, classroom demonstrations, and science fairs.

COMPONENTS USED
Capacitors: 470 µF
Resistor: 100 Ohm
Battery: 9V
ON-OFF Switch
LED Indicators
Working
When the charging switch is turned on, the capacitors begin to store charge from the 9V battery. Depending on whether they are connected in series or parallel, the charging behavior changes:
Series Combination – The overall capacitance decreases, so the capacitors discharged Instantly, and the LED glows for about 1 Sec.
Parallel Combination – The overall capacitance increases, so the capacitors Discharged after few seconds, and the LED glows for more than 3 Sec.
Once the capacitors are charged, turning off the charging switch and switching on the discharging circuit allows you to see how the LED brightness changes. This shows the difference between energy storage and release in both series and parallel connections.
Application
Physics Demonstrations – Helps students understand the effect of series and parallel connections on capacitance.
Science Exhibitions – A simple and impressive model for explaining electronic principles.
Learning Electronics – Builds a strong foundation for RC circuits, energy storage, and circuit design.
Hands-On Learning – Encourages students to visualize and experiment with real components.
Conclusion
The Series and Parallel Combination of Capacitor Working Model is an excellent educational tool for Class 12 physics students, teachers, and hobbyists. It makes learning about capacitor combinations interactive, easy, and fun. Perfect for science fairs, classroom activities, or self-learning, this model brings textbook concepts to life.
